Hi Smart Women,

How are you doing this week?  It has been a fun week with lots of creative projects to work on and amazing clients to work with.  And because I have been so busy, I made sure to just STOP yesterday and take the rest of the day off and spend it with the kiddos giving them hugs. Seriously. I just stopped.

Why? Because I like to give the kiddos more of my time before I go out of town.  I leave for a quick drive to Austin on Saturday to hang out with Suzanne Falter Barnes’s at her event.  I will hook up with Alexis Martin Neely again (mwah) and then I will finally get to meet Andrea J. Lee after all these years of partnering with each other on projects.  Then Sunday morning, I will head directly to the airport and fly to Los Angeles, CA because I have a photo shoot on Monday with Lesley Bohm for the next book and then I will spend time with Ali Brown and her Platinum group for a few days and then finally I will spend the last day with a group of millionaire business women that I mastermind with.  Whew!  I promise to take lots of pictures and learn lots of new things to pass on to you when I return.

OK, so why am I telling you all this?

Because I want to discuss Yin and Yang. I encourage my clients to squeeze as much ROI out of the business as possible, like me packing everything I can into the four days of travel above. I mean if I have to be away from my kids, it has to be worth it, right.  But trust me, I am smart enough (most of the time!) to know that I also need to “Just Be” too.  Example: I took a bubble bath at 2 pm a few days ago when my throat was starting to get a little itchy.  I had deadlines and to do’s that would make a grown man cry. OK, not that bad… just depends on the man I guess. The point is, I want you to be a leader to your customers, to your family, to your team.  So you need to have that “make it happen energy” and then you also need to take care of yourself and go with nature’s rhythms.  Just a reminder that if you don’t hustle here and there, you won’t be successful. And on the flip side, if you don’t completely unplug here and there, you won’t be successful.

The Difference Between An Association and Continuity Group

With Associations:

When you create the association for a niched group of people, you shoot yourself to the top of the industry. Associations are considered the “go to” place in almost every industry not only for information, but also as the single best place to network and generate new leads.

Think about it. Every business book you have ever read offers the same advice: “Join an association and network”.

With Continuity Groups:

When you run a continuity group (a group with recurring revenues) you are still viewed as a solopreneur of a service-based business. You will not have leverage in your industry nor will the “universe” literally send you leads as they do with associations. Know that your service-based business, no matter how much money you pour into it will ever have the type of attraction as the association you are creating and building for “your people”.

I want to wish each of you a Happy Valentine’s Day.

To celebrate our love for each other earlier tonight, we went to a new Sushi restaurant near our home with the kiddos. And nothing is cuter than a 2 year old boy trying to use chop sticks by the way.

What’s New:

This week was hectic but it was awesome too. Why? Because of one word. Clarity. I returned from my mastermind meeting in Phoenix last Sunday with a 7 figure plan for one of my most recent companies. And the only reason I “was given” this plan from the universe was because I decided first to let go of other projects and even a few new companies I had already began to build. My mastermind members rocked and they called me on “my lack of passion” for the new projects and in a flash I got it. Once I let go, it only took an hour or so before my brain thanked me for the new “mental space” and I was able to draft up a very doable 7 figure plan in 2009 for the Global Institute of Associations at http://www.giaconnect.com.

I also want to share how I excited I am to formally welcome three new team members this week to Sheri McConnell Companies, Inc. As you know, part of my mission here is to help women become financially independent and I share a special bond with moms as I am one myself… so it is no wonder that all 3 of our new ladies are moms too!
