Creating the Connection

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

Are you Creating the Connection?

As you build your association, organization, or group you will have to find out what IT is that Creates the Connection for YOU and THEN for your target market. And once you figure out what this connection is, you will work and live in a passionate place and find it rewarding to serve your customers.

Need an example?

When I started the Association of Web Entrepreneurs in late 2006, I struggled with narrowing my niche. In the Blueprint, I talk about how this is normal and expected when you start a new business of any kind.

What I learned (again) is that once I connected with the “why I created the AWE in the first place” it was so easy to narrow my niche even further. I rediscovered that I wanted to connect with web entrepreneurs that enjoy being creative and imaginative. I mean really enjoy it… they get excited about it so much so that it connects them with their passions! I am this type of entrepreneur and naturally I want to be around people that I LOVE and ENJOY.

First I had to connect with myself and then I was able to create a connection with the types of entrepreneurs I would serve well. From this process, The Association of Web Entrepreneurs became the place:

Where Creativity and Imagination Connect With Passion and Attract Abundance

Ask yourself these questions to figure out your connection:

  • What gets you excited
  • What do you do well
  • What do you feel strongly about

Figure out the answers to these questions and create a connection with your members today!

Focusing On A Theme

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

How do you learn? I focus on “theme”.

When I pick something new that I want or need to learn, I then find all the information I can on the subject. I think this behavior of “immersion learning” is a habit that has served me well.

For instance, last month was Wordpress and Blogging, this month I am learning everything I can about managing a virtual team.

This month—pick a them and then catapult yourself forward by immersing yourself in the learning process.

Carry that CD, book, printout, or binder around with you where ever you go. You’d be amazed at how much you will learn with all those “waiting” moments you have each day.

Until next time–keep creating!
